Broken sewing machineHi!  Well, I haven’t been doing any sewing recently because 10 weeks ago my sewing machine went poof!  There was no smoke, no bang and no sizzling noise, just a little pop! and then . . . nothing 🙁  To cut a long story short, I took it to the very worst place this side of the moon to get it fixed, it is still not fixed, and now I have resorted to contacting the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline to get help on what to do next.  It’s all very upsetting, however some people have been very helpful; a friend lent me her sewing machine and another repairman who I usually use also offered me the use of a machine!  So the whole thing has dampened my enthusiasm and now that the weather has turned a little cooler as well, my dreams for a funky new summer dress have faded *sniff* *sniff* !

Right!  That’s enough of the bad news!  Onto the good 😀

Here is what my collection of sewing patterns and books, new and vintage, looked like.  There are actually many more hiding away somewhere, but these are the recent acquisitions.

Obviously something had to be done!

I was in the supermarket one evening and I spotted a box the lady on the next checkout was buying – it had pictures of pin-up girls all over it!  Since a lot of my vintage patterns are from the same era as the pin-ups, I thought that box would be perfect for storing my vintage patterns!

Next week I found the box at the supermarket and lo and behold, it was not one box, but THREE!!!

So this evening I have had fun organising my patterns & books.

In the smallest box went the modern sewing patterns.  Into the middle box went the vintage patterns.  And into the large box went the books, both new and old, plus the patterns which are modern versions of old designs.

Ok, so now where am I going to put them?  Hmmmmm . . . . . .
