A Peak At Some Of My Previously Unseen Vintage Patterns

A Peak At Some Of My Previously Unseen Vintage Patterns

17 February 2016

I fully intended for my next post to be about one of my many completed items.  However, a lack of completed item photos has scuppered that plan!

So, I thought it was about time I shared a few of my favourite vintage patterns, which I haven’t shown before in any posts.  Without further ado then . . .

Vintage playsuit patterns

I love all of these!

I just love these playsuit and holiday outfit patterns.  I think the Maudella has to be my favourite, but I also fancy making the top half of the Reveille playsuit as a top. Isn’t the Bestway lady classy!

I won these patterns in a giveaway!

I won these patterns in a giveaway! How lucky am I!

The 1945 Simplicity pattern on the left has a very interesting wrap over skirt type thing going on which I rather like.  And the jagged neckline on the right hand pattern from the 1950’s is a bit unusual.

Somehow, I’m intrigued by the expressions on these lady’s faces!  That poor lady in the green dress on the Butterick pattern envelope looks in pain.  The Vogue lady knows a secret and the Economy Design lady’s are both eyeing up some handsome man across the room and being very cool about it!  Anyway, back to the patterns themselves, I’d love to make all of them!

A classic 1950’s New Look ensemble and a funky 1970’s flared jumpsuit pattern

A classic 1950’s New Look ensemble and a funky 1970’s flared jumpsuit.

Ok, these two patterns have nothing in common.  The lines on the jacket are unusual and the 1970’s flared jumpsuit is strangely appealing but I know it would look hideous on me so I’ll probably never make it.

And now for the last two . . .

Two totally fabulous patterns

The gathering or ruching on the bum of the Leach-Way pattern is just gorgeous and I rather like the neckline as well, so this might just get made up one day.  By the way, the back view reminds me of Kate Winslet.  Does anyone else get Kate vibes from the pattern?  And as for the Simplicity pattern, how cool is that little cropped cape jacket thing?  I reckon it would give the illusion of a slim waist even if you weren’t as wasp shaped as you’d like!

Anyway, I hope you liked seeing some of my patterns.
